Adventures in Watercooling
It has been a while since I have performed maintenance on my custom loop of my main PC. The tubes were all grubby and yellow
and the temperatures haven’t been as low as they should be. Since I was already in the process of tearing things down, I decided to delid my Intel 7700K, and not to my surprise, the thermal interface material (TIM)
that was there was dried and chalky. After a thorough cleaning, I replaced it with a liquid metal TIM, and replaced the grubby tubes with Tygon R6012 Norprene tubing, to keep the black theme and at the same time, try a different material for the tubes. I can definitely say that not only does it look good
but also now under load, the 7700K overclocked to 4.9 GHz hits mid-50° C.
